What did the four founders of ShredLyfe have in common? A mutual love of snowboarding.
This is why, for our group project, we decided to pursue the path towards educating others on CSR related issues within the winter sports industry. The four founders of ShredLyfe include Julia Coats, Scott Edwards, Wendell Charles and Pete Curry. ShredLyfe is dedicated to the spirit of winter sports, more specifically: snowboarding.
Here at ShredLyfe, we view ourselves as innovators and inspirers. As snowboarding continues to grow as an international sport, ShredLyfe aims to educate, inspire and motivate others. The level of awareness of global issues has grown, ShredLyfe wants to stop being part of the problem and become part of the solution. Our Creative Shared Value throughout our entire company is in our business practices and everything we do. This is how we will make an impact.
The founders of ShredLyfe developed an executive plan to educate consumers, fans, stakeholders and newly-interested people about the industry of the sport: its pros, cons and everything in between. Boulder, Colorado, the base for ShredLyfe, is the perfect destination to bring awareness to the issues within the industry. At the foot of the Flatirons, it is impossible to turn a blind eye to the slopes and the snowboarding culture.
Throughout the course of this project, we learned a great deal of the CSR-related issues within the industry (some that surprised us more than others). Surprising, many companies don’t use sustainable products or manufacturing to produce the apparel for winter sports. Ironically, they are impacting the world but also their market as many of their practices are contributing to the effect of climate change. We are motivated at ShredLyfe to bringing light to these issues and getting the word out about these issues. We invite you to check out our website as well as follow us on Twitter to see the action that goes on. We continually update our social media to make sure you, the consumers, are always informed about environmental, sustainability, and social issues pertaining to the industry. We hope to educate and create informed consumers about the smart way to shred the mountain.
