Recognizable Me: Hi everyone, my name is Lexi Polmear, but my friends call me “Lex” or “Polms”. I was born and raised in Greenwood Village, Colorado, which is a suburb located 20 minutes outside of Denver. The 45-minute commute from Boulder to back home is perfect because it’s not too far and close enough that I can visit home quite easily and enjoy my mom’s famous homemade brownies. Yum! Speaking of food, I am a huge brunch fan and am currently making my way through all the best breakfast spots in Boulder. My favorite so far is Tangerine. Their cinnamon butter pancakes are heavenly! Along with great restaurants, Boulder has so much to offer. It’s an awesome city and I couldn’t imagine myself going to school in any other place. I have three older siblings who all attended CU, so naturally my only college application was for beautiful Boulder. As you can tell from the picture below, I am a huge fan of sharks and decided to dress up as one for Halloween last year. They are such cool animals and I hope to eventually see one up close through tank diving. Yikes! I better not get too close or CHOMP!
Where I’m At: I just started my junior year at Leeds, and so far it’s going swimmingly (another shark joke, so corny). I am majoring in Management and Marketing. After graduating from CU, I want to attend cosmetology school and then open my own spa. You can never underestimate the power of a good mani/pedi. I am a firm believer in pampering. I am currently living on 12th and College with five of my best friends. We are also accompanied by a family of raccoons living in our backyard. They aren’t the most friendly creatures and they enjoy rummaging through our trash. Don’t you just hate when your roommates do that? I am starting a new job this year as a Procurement Card Specialist through The Idea Forge at CU. I have yet to figure out what the job exactly entails, but stay tuned.
What I Want: Like many of you, I am taking this course as a requirement, but I also want to further my writing skills and develop strong personal skills that will help me once I graduate. A strong foundation for writing will be so important throughout any career. I am somewhat of a stickler for grammar and it really irks me when people confuse basic words like “your” and “you’re”.
Where To Find Me: On any given day, you are likely to find me either outside enjoying nature or inside taking a nap. I’m a firm believer in naps and usually take at least one a day. I also love to run. My favorite path is along the Boulder Creek and the trail that goes through the Boulder Canyon. I am also somewhat of a hoarder when it comes to clothes and beauty products. I love to shop and have almost every beauty product known to man (another reason why I want to open my own spa). As you can tell from the picture below, I love my cat, Riggins. I got his name from one of my favorite television shows, Friday Night Lights. He also goes by Roo and Prince Rooey of Monaco (I live on Monaco Street). Riggins loves to takes naps with me and will always sleep on my face. He is the greatest. He was also a shark last year for Halloween. They have the best costumes at PetSmart. I am already pondering what his costume will be this year. I am looking forward to this class and I can’t wait to get to know all of you better!
